God's Word demands to be believed. When the Bible says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, then it is either true, or it is not. There's no neutral ground. Either God's Word is the beginning of knowledge, both for believers and unbelievers, or else man's own knowledge determines what is true.
This is a question of authority. Is God's Word or man's word our highest authority?
God's Word is not true because we say it is; it is true because God's Word itself says it is.
